About me
from the mat to the stage
I was an aspiring competitive wrestler from the time I was four years old until my senior year of High School. As I continued to grow and mature, I became more and more dedicated to the sport with each passing day. Eventually, I reached a point where I was extremely disciplined and dedicated to wrestling and set big goals of becoming a State Champion, National Champion, and eventually wrestling in college.
That did not work out.
I never once achieved my goals in wrestling, but I had discovered something else that was quickly growing into a passion that I could not ignore.
Throughout my early childhood I grew up listening to Classic Rock: Led Zeppelin, Rush, Pink Floyd, The Police, ACDC, Kansas, Styx, Boston, Chicago, Elton John, Journey, Bon Jovi, Queen, Phil Collins, The Cars, and many more great bands/artists.
But the one singer/songwriter that inspired me to start singing was: Billy Joel.
I was sitting in my room in Middle School listening to the radio on an old-school 'JVC' Stereo.
I heard the first chord ring for Billy Joel's 'Piano Man.'
Immediately I was hooked and started learning all of his songs. I went out and bought a CD called, "The Essential Billy Joel" and I would sing along with them in the car everyday.
Soon enough I joined chorus in Middle School and High School and then I auditioned for my first musical: Shrek The Musical.
I was cast as Lord Farquaad. I absolutely fell in love with performing on stage. I was very lucky to do that role for my first true theater experience.
After I had lost in the semi-finals at the state tournament. I realized that I needed to make a decision... Continue to wrestle in college or give up wrestling to pursue a career in Musical Theater.
Although it was the hardest decision of my life, I decided to pursue acting and singing as a career. I could not see myself doing anything else.
Now I want to inspire others to chase after their goals and dreams. I hope to influence people to do the things in life that terrify them. Take major risks. Force yourself to take a step out of your comfort zone and see what you can accomplish! At the end of the day, you should be doing something that you love with all your heart.
